welwind - subnav projects

Current Projects

The Company’s first two projects are located in Yangxi and Zhanjiang in the Guangdong Province of China.  The projects are planned to be constructed in three phases.  In Phase I, the Company is constructing wind energy plants capable of supplying local demand for energy.   Phase I involves the construction of two 49 MW plants, one in Yangxi and one in Zhanjiang. (Reader note: A megawatt is a million watts, sufficient power to light 10,000 100-watt bulbs, or enough daily electricity for 600 to 1,000 households, depending on energy use.)

Phase II is planned to be constructed to meet future energy requirements and will involve the construction of two 150 MW plants in Yangxi and Zhanjiang.  Phase III plans project the construction of two further 300 MW plants in each location.  In total, the Company intends to put in place 600 turbines at a cost of USD$1.2 – 1.5 per MW on average.  The total investment for Yangxi and Zhanjiang is projected by Welwind management to be @ USD1.2 billion over the course of the buildout.

WWEI has signed agreements to build 1000 MW’s of wind power in the Guangdong Province of China.  As part of the agreement, the Company will enter into a 50 year power purchase agreement (“PPA”) which will result in WWEI’s facilities having contracts to sell all power produced at a guaranteed rate for 50 years.  The land on which the wind farms are located has been secured via permission from the local and provincial governments, much like a North American land lease for a period of 50 years, and the Company is in the final stages of negotiating formal PPA agreements.

In China, upon the achievement of agreed to milestones, a 50 year contract is earned and administered through the government at the local district level. Due to the simplification for green power purchase, management believes that their early market launch will contribute positively towards company growth. As an early market entrant, establishing local credibility provides the opportunity for rapid expansion and immediate revenue generation.

In order to assure a consistent supply of turbines, the Company is working with Engga, a turbine manufacturer, to develop incentives to guarantee delivery of hardware on time and on budget. These incentives are intended to ensure a production supply that will match the Company’s roll-out plan thereby contributing to revenue generation ability during early stages of growth.
